Animal Kingdom Lodge Reviews

I've stayed at several of the WDW Resorts, but my absolute favorite is Animal Kingdom Lodge. On a recent mother/daughter trip my mom and I stayed at Animal Kingdome Lodge for six evenings, we enjoyed every moment. We ate breakfast every morning at the buffet and the food was hot and delicious. The store provided not only Disney gifts but everyday needs as well, including toiletries, film, film development, etc. The rooms were sparkling clean - the bathrooms were extremely sanitary. We had a room that overlooked the Savannah  and were wondering if there would be any type of a "zoo" smell. We were surprised to see men driving around in trucks picking up the animal waste and never even once experienced an unpleasant smell. Every morning, afternoon and evening we saw several animals on the Savannah. Specifically every moring we saw a mother and baby giraffe - it was breathtaking. Due to cool weather we only got to go in the pool once, but since the water is heated we really enjoyed it - once again we were surprised at how sparkling clean the pool area was. To get to the Disney parks we only had to walk a short distance to get to the bus stop. I think the fartest to any of the parks was only a 10 minute drive. All in all it staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge made our trip even more exciting. I'll admit the cost is a bit on the high side but I'm glad that I spent the extra money to experience this one of a kind resort.  Debra  Lake In The Hills, IL

I stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge within the past year and will go again soon.  The lobby is immense with very tasteful furniture groupings so your group can feel close even though the AKL is
huge!  The savannah rooms are small, but I would rather have a smaller room AND a balcony to stand outside and watch the animals very close by.  I am sure if they did not have balconies the rooms
would be bigger, but we would just have a larger window.  Boma, my personal favorite WDW restaurant is outstanding.  The smells from Boma and Jiko just take over the hotel.  I have a "tricky" stomach, but I had no problem eating there.  The spices are not heavy, but the combination with the food is not to be missed.  I particularly love their pool as it has a "zero" entrance.  This is super for me as I have a very bad back and knee injury.  I like that it is not a "loud" pool - I consider it a very nice quiet pool. The Zawadi giftshop is very large, and a great place to buy souvenirs.  One of the things that sets AKL apart is the tours of the lobby, the singing hostesses and the all-around feel of being catered to. I look forward to staying there many times, and being wakened by an animal outside my room.  Doris  Bethlehem PA
