Frontierland
The crash of the cascading water of Splash Mountain and the screams of the guests in the runaway trains of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will entice you to see more of America's pioneer homeland. Cross the Rivers of America to explore Tom Sawyer's Island or relax in the air-conditioned theatre to see the old-fashioned hoe-down fun of the Country Bear Jamboree.
The clapboard buildings of Frontierland house gingham and denim clad Cast Members. Gardeners will appreciate the beauty of Frontierland with the mesquite trees, century plants, evergreens, slack pines and Jerusalem thorns with their fragrant flowers. Dining opportunities include Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn (low fat foods available) and Pecos Bill Cafe (low fat foods available)
Splash Mountain:
Based on the 1946 Walt Disney film, "Song of the South", this
ride features the antics of Brer Fox and Brer Bear's attempts to
catch the wily Brer Rabbit as he looks for his laughing place.
Over 100 Audio-animatronic figures entertain you as your log boat
winds its way through caves, swamps and bayous, and down
three minor drops before climaxing with a plummet of 52 feet
at a 45-degree angle going up to 40 miles per hourthrough the
Big Thunder Mountain:
Dubbed "the wildest ride in the wilderness". Big Thunder Mountain
is a runaway mine train style rollercoaster. The ride is 2,780 feet long
from start to finish, and covers 2 1/2 acres. Big Thunder Mountain is
set during the gold rush days in the flooded mine town of Tumbleweed,
this runaway mine car roller coaster features 20 Audio-animatronic
figures including donkeys, chickens, possums, and the rainmaker himself,
Professor Cumulus Isobar. The authenticity is evident in the antique
mining equipment found around the attraction and the smell of sulfur
as you pass the phosphorescent pools and see the red eyes of the
Country Bear Jamboree:
This entertaining knee-slapping fun is held in Grizzly Hall and features 20
Audio-animatronic bears. Starring the 7 foot tall Henry as the Master of
Ceremonies, the show is 17 minutes long and offers corny humor and the
singing talents of entertainers such as the Five Bear Rugs, Teddi Barra
the Tampa Temptation and hear the harmony of Bubbles, Bunny and
Beulah.
Tom Sawyer Island:
Accessible only by raft, the island is a walk through attraction. This is a
great haven to unwind where adults can sit on rocking chairs and watch
the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom® Park across the Rivers
of America, whilst relaxing amidst the shade of the great oaks, pines,
red maples, elms and sycamores. Tom Sawyer Island also offers a
place for kids to let off steam as they meander through the caves and
play in Fort Sam Clemens.
