The Great Movie Ride

Housed inside a full-scale replica of Mann's Chinese Theater, complete with hand, foot and paw cement imprints in front of the theatre. If you're a movie buff, then you won't want to miss seeing some old favorites in the Great Movie Ride. Queues that can sometimes stretch outside in an un-shaded area, take guests through the inside lobby where you'll see movie memorabilia such as the carousel horse from Mary Poppins and one of the three pairs of ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz.

Guests then file into the pre-show auditorium where brief trailers of old favorites are shown before you make your way into the large trams for the actual ride. Using film footage, special effects and Audio-animatronic figures of famous actors, guests are transported to classic films like Busby Berkley's musical "Footlight Parade", Gene Kelly's memorable performance from "Singing in the Rain" (Gene Kelly personally inspected his likeness), then Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews in "Mary Poppins", as Mary floats from above via her magical umbrella and Bert sings "Chim Chim Cher-ee" from the rooftop.

Then you merg into adventure. James Cagney re-creates his role from "Public Enemy" as the ride proceeds along Gangster Alley. A mob shootout begins and puts guests in the middle of an ambush. An alternate route leads to a western town, where John Wayne can be seen on horseback eyeing some would-be bank robbers. When the thieves blow up the safe and flames pour from the building, heat can be felt from the trams. The guests are caught in the middle of a shoot-out.

Next is "Alien", Officer Ripley guards the corrider while a slimy monster threatens guests from above.       .

Note: The Alien scene is a dark setting and may be frightening to very young children.

The legendary fairwell from "Casablanca" with a life size Rick and Ilsa is also depicted. The guests are moved into Munhkinville, where a house has just fallen on the Wicked Witch of the East in the memorable "Wizard of Oz". As the ride ends guests viw a montage of memorable moments from classical movies.

The Great Movie Ride appeals to all age groups. Guests using ECVs must be able to transfer to a wheelchair.
