Disney-MGM Studios an Overview

When Disney opened the Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 1,
1989, Michael Eisner described it as "the Hollywood that never was
and always will be". Evidence of this is found as soon as you approach
the main gates, which are fashioned after the Los Angeles Pan-
Pacific Auditorium of 1935. The shops of Hollywood Boulevard
and Sunset Boulevard are replicas of well-known Hollywood
architecture of the 1930's and 1940's. The chrome Art Deco style
of of the Golden Age of Hollywood is abundant here. Even the signature Earffel Tower is representative of old Hollywood as each studio had a water tower on their lots for heating,  cooling and emergency uses. Parts of the 135 acre park are  working studios for the television and motion picture industry.

Guests can get a behind the scenes look at how special effects are done and watch animators at work on tours such as the Backstage Pass tour, Backlot Studios tour and the Magic of Disney Animation. Entertaining stage shows and productions such as "Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage", "Voyage of the Little Mermaid", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Indiana JonesTM Epic Stunt Spectacular!" are sure to thrill the whole family.

The Toy Story Mania (set to open in 2008)
Location: Disney's Hollywood Studios,
In the former "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire -- Play It!"

Woody the Cowboy, Buzz Lightyear and Green Army Men.
You will ride and play inside a toybox. Celebrating the
Disney*Pixar classics “Toy Story” and “Toy Story II,” Toy
Story Mania will take the interactive ride-game experience
to exciting new heights.

Toy Story Mania will debut at Disney’s California Adventure®
Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Donning 3-D glasses,
Guests shrink to the size of a toy and hop into fanciful ride vehicles that travel and twist along a colorful midway-theme route. Upon arriving at each game booth, you will aim for animated targets using your own special on-board “toy cannon.”

As you score points, you will be cheered on by your favorite “Toy Story” friends like Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Bo Peep and the Little Green Men. Hidden targets give players extra points and lead to different levels of play. The energy of the characters, the competition with other riders and the hilarious, unpredictable game action make this a unique experience that families will want to try again and again.

No matter how many times you return to ride and play, you can be sure every ride-through will be different. Players pair up and sit side-by-side for a friendly competition that delivers an ever-changing variety of targets and surprises.
