Disney's Polynesian Resort is
the other resort that opened when
the Magic Kingdom® Park  did
on October 1, 1971. The resort is
made up of several buildings, each
named after a Polynesian island
such as Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti, etc.
The main building is known as the Great Ceremonial House. The resort has a total of 853 rooms and is monorail accessible.

Disney's Polynesian Resort rooms:
Are located in eleven different buildings called longhouses. Each is 2- or 3-stories high. In October 1999, the names of the longhouses at the resort were changed to Tonga,  Aotearoa,  Fiji,  Tuvalu, Hawaii,  Samoa,  Niue,  Rarotonga,  Tokelau,  Tahiti  &  Rapa Nui

The new names all represent real Polynesian islands. The names were rearranged so that, if you take a map of Polynesia and a map of the Disney's Polynesian Resort, all the islands are roughly in their correct geographical position.
