Disney Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter
Is the second of the moderate resorts.
It opened to guests June 1, 1991.
This resort is themed to feature the
characteristics of the New Orleans
French Quarter.
TIP: Smoking rooms are available in Buildings 2, 4 and the top 2 floors of Building 6. For a quiet riverview room, ask for Buildings 1 or 6.
POOL:
Doubloon Lagoon is the feature pool. It is open 24 hours a day, lifeguards
are on duty from 9am till 10pm. The waterslide here is a huge dragon.
There are also alligator and other icons around to give it a Mardi Gras
type of feeling.
DINING:
The Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory food court.
American and Creole cuisine is served here. Guests can have pizza, pasta,
hamburgers, fried and spit-roasted chicken, barbecue ribs and sandwiches,
cafe au lait, fresh fruit and baked goods. Hours are from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Boatwright's:
Dining Hall is themed around shipbuilding and has a large boat hull, in the process of being built, that hangs from the ceiling. Boatwright's is open for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The menu features steaks, prime rib, seafood and barbecued ribs, and Cajun specialties. Room service is limited to pizza, salads, soft drinks and beer and is available from 4 p.m. to midnight.
TIP: You must try the beignets here. They are small deep fried puff pastries covered with powdered sugar and are served warm.
POOLS
The main pool area is found on Ol' Man Island. Here you'll find a large pool with a water slide, a spa, a kiddie pool and a playground. Five quiet pools are spread throughout the resort area. There are changerooms/restroom facilities at each pool. Guests of the Resort are welcome to use the pool facilities at its sister resort next door, Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, as well.
RECREATION:
Arcade:
Play a variety of video and pinball favorites at South Quarter Games.
Playground:
Climb, slide and play to your heart's content in the courtyard playground across from the spa.
Watercraft Rentals:
Spend some time on the river with a kayak, canopy boat, pontoon boat or WaterMouse, Sea Raycer by Sea Ray®.
Rental Policy Recreational Boats
WaterMouse, permits Guests at least 12 years old and 5 feet tall to operate independently as long as the parent/legal guardian signs for the child.
Jogging Trail:
Take a scenic one-mile run along the Sassagoula River.
Bike Rentals:
Rent a bike or surrey for a leisurely ride.
Fishing:
Hook a fun-filled fishing trip for the entire family. (Catch and release only)
Horse Drawn Excursions:
Take a relaxing trip through the beautiful byways of the land along the Sassagoula.
Note: Another perk of being a guest of Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter is the free Sassagoula River cruise to the Downtown Disney® Marketplace. This cruise runs approximately every 20 minutes and takes about half an hour.
