Overview:
Shades of Green opened 1 February 1994 as
the only AFRC in the continental U.S. The
brainchild of forward thinking supporters of the
Armed Forces, Shades of Green has blossomed
into the finest R&R option for our servicemembers
and their families serving this great nation. As you enter Shades of Green, you will see the five service flags framing an immense rock formation complete with cascading waterfalls. Rising above this setting is a larger American flag and a smaller POW/MIA flag. This serves as a daily reminder to all guests and Shades of Green staff that we have but one true mission..."Serving Those Who Serve". Armed Forces Recreation Centers have been serving the nation's servicemembers and their families since 1946. Shades of Green undertook a massive expansion plan starting April 2002 and reopened March 2004. The goal was to create an even better resort that included more guest room options, meeting space, additional fine dining and many more guest amenities
Rooms:
Standard Guest Room
Guest are spacious 400 Square feet the amenities in these oversized,
standard guest rooms include two queen size beds, a single sleeper
sofa, coffeemaker, refrigerator, in-room safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing
board. Each standard guest room features either a private balcony or
patio that overlook a lush tropical setting and are among the roomiest
to be found on the entire WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort.
Guest Bathrooms are modern and convenient.
ADA compliant facilities are found throughout the resort.
ADA compliant bathrooms are available at Shades of Green.
Family Suites
Shades of Green also offers eleven Family Suite combinations. Five Family Suites sleep up to six guests and six Family Suites sleep up to eight guests. Because the number of Family Suites is very limited, these rooms reserve quickly. If interested in making a reservation for a Family Suite, we suggest you do so as soon as you confirm your vacation dates. Guest amenities in our Family Suites include a separate bedroom with King size bed and full-size bath, living area with two queen size sofa beds and additional full bath, dining table with chairs, coffeemaker, refrigerator, in-room safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
Meetings/Banquets:
Our massive expansion project included the addition of a multi-level parking
garage and state of the art meeting and banquet facilities. The Magnolia
Ballroom accomodates up to 500 guests for banquets and meetings. The
Ballroom subdivides into four equal sections for small groups like family
and military reunions. Our culinary team offers food service options for
any size group.
Wedding:
As part of the renovations at the Shades of Green you can now book your
wedding. 7,500 square feet of flexible special-event space for reunions,
weddings and other family-oriented social functions. Couples can get
married at the gazebo and honeymoon in one of the suites.
Rates:
Room rates are determined by military grade and are available to active and retired members of the
uniformed services, $70 for E-1s through E-5s to $116 for senior officers. Reserves and National Guard,
as well as currently employed Department of Defense civilians. Sponsors may reserve up to three rooms.
Call for additional information and rates for non-eligible guests and for information about overflow rooms at other resorts if Shades of Green is completely booked.

Pools:
Shades of Green has its own two heated swimming pools, a kiddie pool,
play area and tennis courts. It's situated among three Walt Disney World
Resort golf courses: two 18-hole championship courses and a nine-hole
executive course with discounted greens fees for military players. Free
shuttle bus service transports guests to and from Disney attractions.
Golf Courses:
Two championship golf courses and a 9-hole executive course.
Shades of Green is nestled in a lush, wooded setting complete
with deer and herons just a few minutes away from all of the
major attraction parks.
Poolside Bar and Grill
Near the Magnolia Golf Course and Fountain Pool. Serves fast
food and snacks from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
Exceptional Dining
Exceptional dining options are available throughout the resort. Relaxed, affordable family meals are available in the Garden Gallery Restaurant. Enjoy your favorite sporting event while Evergreens Sports Bar and Grill serves up your favorite burgers and other American specialty dishes. Stop by Eagles Lounge after a round of golf for a hearty snack and your favorite beverage. Express Cafe gets you ready for a day of fun with pastries, snacks, coffee, tea, cappuccino and espresso.
Evergreen Sports Bar and Grill:
Open from 11:00am to midnight, this poolside restaurant serves American
style snacks and light meals including hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken.
Also a great place for golfers after a round of golf. Televised sports are shown.
The Garden Gallery:
A la carte breakfast service and a breakfast buffet served from 7:00am to
11:00am. Dinner buffet that nightly features a different culinary theme.
Express Cafe:
Gets you ready for a day of fun with pastries, snacks, coffee, tea, cappuccino and espresso.
Mangino's
Our featured restaurant is a mix of old world and new Florida. Mangino's delivers the warmth and charm of a Tuscan 'ristorante' with a savory menu of Italian specialty dishes and an extensive wine list. From an array of delightful appetizers to the popular house dish, Mangino's provides an opportunity for you and your guests to relax and enjoy fine dining in an authentic Tuscan setting. Transportation
A fantastic benefit to staying at Shades of Green is the complimentary bus transportation to the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort transportation center. Shades of Green buses run throughout the day on a seasonal schedule. ADA options include ramps and lifts for certain designated routes so you can get in on all the fun. Shuttles and transportation to other areas around Central Florida are available at an additional charge.
