Tomorrowland

In 1994, Disney began renovations to update Tomorrowland to resemble a look at the future as it was seen by the sci-fi writers of the 1920's and 1930's. The newly renovated Tomorrowland opened in 1995 and was billed as the "Future that Never Was". The new Tomorrowland is like its own futuristic city unto itself where the Avenue of the Planets leads to the Rocket Tower Plaza, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority provides transportation, you'll find the Tomorrowland Interplantary Convention Center and the Tomorrowland Metro-Retro Society sponsors the Carousel of Progress.

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club. (Early 2007)
Join in on the laughs, jokes, sing songs and match wits with the characters
from Disney-Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club
features one-eyed hero Mike Wazowski, who has opened a comedy club to
collect laughs that will generate electricity for the monster world of Monstropolis.
As Monster-of-Ceremonies, Mike recruits two comedian wannabes whose
slapstick humor delights and engages audiences. Guests will even get to text-
message jokes on their cell phones for possible use in the show. The fun starts
at this 400-seat theater in Tomorrowland.

Space Mountain:
This indoor roller coaster in the dark also entertains guests with an amusing
pre-show as the PNN (Planetary Network News) gives us a look at outer space
news, weather and sports. It is slow loading into the 6-car rockets that carry
guests amidst shooting stars, on high-speed turns and rapid plunges up to
speeds of 28 miles per hour. FASTPASS Ride

Astro Orbiter:
Guests fly high over the Magic Kingdom® Park in Buck Rogers style rockets that dip and swoop amidst spinning planets, on the Astro Orbiter. These jets sit high above Tomorrowland atop the Rocket Tower Plaza and guests control their ascent and descent with the control lever.

Stitch’s Great Escape.
Tomorrowland adventure puts guests in the middle of the mayhem caused by
the naughty “Experiment 626” – a.k.a. Stitch – when he’s captured by the
Galactic Federation and teleported to a processing center for alien prisoners.
Park guests are recruited to provide additional security when the six-limbed
alien arrives with a reputation for playful disobedience – and an appetite for
chaos that exceeds all limits. Sights, sounds and – ewwww! – smells add to
the pandemonium. FASTPASS Ride

NOTE: Stitch’s Great Escape! includes periods of darkness and loud noises.
This may scare young children.

Indy 500 Speedway:
The roar of mini gas-powered sports cars and the smell of exhaust fumes indicate that you're at the Tomorrowland Speedway. Guests drive their cars around a 2000' track (on a rail) at death defying speeds of up to 7 miles per hour. This attraction is most appealing to young children, but children must be 52" or taller to drive alone. If you get behind a slow driver, the 4 minute ride can be even longer and a simulated bumper car ride may ensue.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin:
This recent addition to Tomorrowland stars one of Toy Story's favorite
heroes. Guests ride in cars that seat 2 and must assist Buzz in his
quest to defeat the evil emperor, Zurg. Each car is equipped with a ray
gun that guests use to shoot at all of the "Z"s in the passing scenes,
where they rack up points when successful. FASTPASS Ride

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress:  opens seasonally
The Carousel of Progress was created by Walt Disney, for the 1964-65
New York World's Fair. Guests are treated to a nostalgic look at the
history of technology in the 20th Century, and more specifically, the influence of electricity. Guests are seated in a 250 seat theatre that revolves around 6 stages. Beginning in the early 1900's, each stage represents a period in history with the Audio-animatronic family, as the song "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is repeatedly played and sings the praises of, and optimism for, the future.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority:
When the heat of the day becomes too much, take a relaxing 10 minute tour of Tomorrowland on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. These pollution-free, energy efficient trains are run without engines, using a linear induction powered system. The trains are magnetically pulled along the one mile track and travel at speeds up to 10 miles per hour. The faint hearted can get a sneak peek inside Space Mountain while on this journey as it travels through it.
